Just registered as I just picked up my first elsinore!! The motor and frame are 30 no's off so that seems like a bonus, rolls nice, kicks nice, carb is free

pipe looks flat but just an illusion, ended up removin it for a looksee and luckily no carnage in the cyl!!

pretty much as found condition and not run in 16yrs... stored indoors for 25! Looks like ol bolly found himself a new project!!! :-D

so yesterday I mixed up some gas & oil and sure enough she fired up after 3 kicks! :o

removed the clutch cover this AM expecting stuck plates and low and behold the primary drive gear bolt had backed out, rubbing on the inside of the cover, no damage to the gears!! tranny oil was clean as a whistle!! :D

got the tank and sides off for more cleaning next up is clean the carb and try firing her up again!

You got that right. I restored one of these five years ago and the parts supply had already dried up.
The good news is there is a lot of support from the aftermarket for the Green stripers. Looks like
you already have all the big ticket items (tank, pipe, seat). A complete bike is a big bonus for these
kinds of projects. Take your time and stick with it. Most every part you'll need eventually turns up.
I spent fourteen months on mine.

Post subject:  crank brgs and seals 91202-356-003, 91203-357-03, 96102-6306

I already bought the alberta ebay seat cover so waitin on that so I'm wondering what's the consensus on crank bearings and seals?

oem seals gotta be dried out by now and 40yr old bearings sittin on the shelf rust easily if not greased... any aftermarket suggestions?

I used Wiseco bearings and Honda seals. I don't know if they still
offer it, but Wiseco marketed a complete bottom end bearing kit
which was stocked with good quality Toyo (same as Honda OE),
bearings. The OE seals are made of a synthetic rubber compound
that holds up surprisingly well over time.

Another option is to take the bearings you have to any good local
bearing supplier and have them match them up. Any good quality
U.S., Japanese or U.K. bearings will work. Stay away from the Chinese
bearings and seal kits you see on EBay, they're crap.

spent an hour or so with the sandpaper, what a drag!!! decided to see what my tank looks like under that damn silver paint, found remnants of the green anyways she's got a few battle scars that need to be addressed and looks like someone even used a damn grinder at one time! :(

.... seen a youtube video of aluminum brazing and think that just might be the ticket for me!

Post subject:  Re: new mbr new to me 1974 CR250M

so I'm doin a little lookin around at serial numbers and whatever anyways I'm back at the 73/74 debate.... here's a pic of my vin plate looks like mine is March 1973? :D

On a more serious note, I havent found a specific 1974 parts manual, I did use the K0 and M1 and the 76 online links and found 3 likey part numbers for the 73/74 oem connecting rod(dunno if I need one yet my motor's still together);

13201-357-300, 13201-KA4-700, 13201-38-300... anyone tell me which is correct for 73/74? Is they're a replacement rod other than the long rod kit on ebay? anyone know manufacturers or numbers of suitable replacements?

From my KO (73-74) parts manual:
Replacement connecting rod: 13201-357-300
Replacement side plates: 13202-357-300
Big end bearing: 91011--VMO-OC8
Crank pin: 13381-357-330

The side plates and big end bearing are still available from Honda.
The rest is listed as NLA. I found a replacement rod on EBay a
while back, maybe another one will show up. The good news is
the crankshafts are rebuildable and you may only need a new big
end bearing and the pin resized/replaced. A number of shops can
do that work for you.
