Post subject:  Fixing up 1981 CR250 - Need new Arrestor

First post here but looks like a great site!

I've been cleaning up my CR250R and got it running great.....new tires/tubes, etc.

Now, I'm ready to take a ride into some of our local forest service roads but they all require a spark arrestor.

Looking around I've found a few options:

DG makes a direct replacement but I don't know if it's a "forest service" approved one or not. Also, I'm concerned about the loudness of the unit. (DB's unknown)

FMF has a universal fit (1-1/8 and 1-1/4). I brought home the 1-1/8 and it looks like it will fit my existing tube (with a little persuasion). I think the 1-1/4 would be too big. (Factory request states DB's should be around 98-102 Db's)

FMF Q Silencer - Obviously the quietest of the pack but it looks pretty huge in comparison. Also will require some additional fabrication to get the mounts correct. (Factory request states DB's should be around 94 Db's)

My main priorities:
Spark arrestor
As quiet as I can be
Asthetically OK

Here are some sample pics.

thanks for the help!

fmf universal will be quiet enough.
But I like the Q better.
I use one of the universal's cut down 4" and it still (barely) quiet enough.
Always wanted a DG but never had one. I expect it would also be quiet enough.
You can always use some wire screen and make a spark arrestor. I've been told they check them by sticking something in the end of the muffler. But I don't really know if that is true or not.
