i just picked up a 1974 honda elsinore mr50 that hasn't ran in years, i was cleaning the carb and got everything cleaned out besides for what looks like a pick up tube or something i sprayed carb cleaner, blew with air compressor , and tried sticking a copper wire through it over and over again. it started to make me wonder if it is even supposed to go through. i have 2 pictures showing the top and bottom of the carb, i circled the hole which i think should go straight through but maybe im wrong.

I think that may the pilot jet, or what passes for a pilot jet in this carb. If it's plugged, the motor probably won't idle or run well below 1/4 throttle. It's probably got a very small hole functioning as a fixed jet, so I'd be real careful pushing wire through it.
