I've been given a '75 MT250, I am yet to pick it up and the last time I saw it was a couple of years ago. It's missing it's expansion chamber and I was told it wasn't running. It's been parked up (inside) since about '92, so I can understand why the owner can't remember if it was the rings, piston or bottom end (Or all 3!).

I understand that '75 was the start of a facelift/new model? Will engine parts from the '74 fit? I've also been told that the head from a CR250 will give some good power gains, is this correct? If so, are there any fitment issues to look out for?

I'm pretty familiar with car engines, but this is my first bike, so go easy :)
