hello everyone, does anyone know the gas to oil ratio on a 2 stroke 76 Honda mr250 elsinore???? I need to mix the gas to get my bike running and I am not sure what the mixture ratio is. I don't want to mess up the engine so I just need some one to let me know thanks so much dan |

Dan, I use 36:1 Bel-Ray H1R in my Hondas, but everyone has their own preference. Ray |

Manual calls for 20:1 and you are always safe doing that. And like already pointed out, everyone has their preference. I run 28:1 using Maxima 927 castor/synthetic blend oil. The rule of thumb I've heard is "when in doubt, use 32:1 with quality oil" If you use really good synthetic, you might be safe at 40:1. However, I advise to pick a ratio and stick with it. You may have to rejet some for the ratio you pick. The MR was jetted rich from the factory and many people lean the jets out a bit. And as old and worn out as some of these needles and needle valves get, it can make them run even richer. Another thing to remember is that running less oil makes the bike run richer, not leaner. You are actually putting more gasoline in the fuel/air mixture by lessening the amount of oil in the gas/oil mix. So while a lot of people think excessive smoking and running rich is because of too much oil, it is usually from too much gasoline in the fuel/oil mixture and the combustion is unable to burn all the fuel. |

i use 32:1 on all my premix two strokes.it is a great compromise for power and engine life. |
