Post subject: | CLUTCH PROBLEMS |
MY CLUTCH SQEAKS AND IS HARD TO PULL IN. I PUT OIL DOWN WERE THE CLUTCH LIFTER IS AND IT DID NOT FREE UP ANY ANY SUGGESTIONS ALSO. DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE CASES APART TO TAKE OUT THE LIFTER. THANKS |

Make sure you're not over-tightening the lever in the clutch perch. Did the problem start after you installed the new cable? If the new cable is OEM you should have no worries. If it's aftermarket, match it up with the old cable to be sure the overall length, and leader lengths on both ends, are right. You may have a wear problem between the clutch lifter (the pivot piece with the cam on it), and the clutch rod. This is a nasty friction point, and high mileage bikes should have this checked anyway. You do have to pull the clutch cover off to get at the rod. A Clymer manual would be helpful, or let a shop deal with it. |

Another thing to check: I think it is possible to have the rod adjustment set so it smashes into the right side cover. If you unscrew the little window button you can tell. |
