I have a 1978 cr250 with a broken clutch cable bracket mounting hole. The threaded hole on the right engine case that is used to bolt down the clutch cable bracket has broken out. I have the broken piece, but I imagine trying to JB-Weld it back in place is not going to work. I'm thinking of fabricating a new bracket that mounts under the nut of one of the cylinder bolts which is just above it and to the left a little bit. Has anyone else experienced this problem, what was your fix for this? Thanks. |

Aluminum? Magnesium? Either can be welded. |

I had the same thing happen to a KX100 I was working on 3 years ago. I JB Welded the broken piece back on, and it's still holding fine. I got some Alumaloy low-temp welding rods off eBay a few weeks back, but haven't used them yet (I think they work on both aluminum and magnesium, but I'm not sure). If it sticks to the case I'm sure it would be more than strong enough. Ray |
