How can I determine the year of my CR 250 Engine?
Having acquired 2 - 82 CR 250's a few years ago, they came with a stock of parts including a complete case painted in red.
Last summer we locked up a crank (plate on crank flywheel parted and jammed between it and the case bottom). I pulled the engine out intending to place the red case in its place but discovered the clutch shaft has a different diameter and the basket I have will not fit it.
I suspect the case is an 84 but don't know how to confirm this so that I can purchase the correct clutch parts.

I still want to pull the locked up engine apart and repair it. Looking for the tools on ebay to get this job accomplished.

it can´t be 84, 84 ist totally different.
81 to 83 look like the same but they aren´t.
a lot of parts are not interchangeable between the cases.
but i´m sorry, i don´t remember exactly the differences.

Go to oem-cycle.com and they have ID charts for most dirt bikes . Hope this helps.
