I am in the process of restoring a 1977 cr125m and was wondering if someone can tell me what kind of black the bike came with from the factory? Matte, Satin, Semi Gloss or Gloss? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! |

The frame is gloss black. I use Dupli-Color DS100. The engine uses a semi-gloss? black. Dupli-Color DE1634 is fairly close and durable, DE1635 is a nearly perfect match but can sometimes be scraped off with a fingernail (!). I've never tried baking it on, that might help. The exhaust is a flat or matte black. I haven't found a really black-black exhaust paint that's durable and sticks well. I currently use Seymour 16-1203, which is brownish but sticks well and lasts a long time. it takes 5-1o heat cycles to fully cure, so if you want it to look good be careful of the finish at first. The bike I have is a 77 so the frame is red, my question is what black are parts like the handle bars and air box and other things that are black? Trying to get the rest of the parts painted, I want it to be the factory color. So the engine is semi-gloss black? |
