Hey guys, I was hoping to get a few pics of where and how you mounted your CDI's on the Pvl conversion early model cr250's. New to this forum but it looks great! Thanks in advance.

Anything in particular you need to see? I did one on a MR250 and I have a few pictures, but it went together pretty easily.

I was hoping to see how and where the CDI is mounted. I have a couple of different ideas, but i dont want to re-invent the wheel if i dont have to.

Thanks!

The CR250M and MR175 frames are pretty similar under the tank, so this might help with mounting ideas (CR125M ignition in MR175 frame):

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74 ... 1754-1.jpg

The coil mount is 1/2" x 3/4" aluminum channel mounted to the front OEM coil-bracket hole and the frame crossbar, using an MR175 skid-plate mounting clamp (P/N 50358-361-000). The CDI uses the rear coil hole and a 1/4" / 6mm hole drilled thru the crossbar. The "before' setup on the left used the new coil mount for grounding which relied on additional bolts and metal-metal contact, so I wired it direct to the frame bracket along with the main wiring-harness ground (these can also be connected together). Once the coil was out of the way there was room for the CDI box, and the plug lead has a smooth arc to the plug without much bending. This setup has been working great for years.

Ray

Hey guys, all good info- but nothing helps like a an actual install photo. On an actual elsinore would be great too. Or email it to me.

Thanks!
Matt.

I could have machined brackets and all sorts of garbage, but I wanted to keep it super simple. I used the coil bracket as my starting point, I threaded a longer than needed bolt through the coil side leaving a stud to attach the CDI (these pictures were just a mock up). I then a collar to space it about an 1/8 of an inch away from the bracket, added a washer, rubber grommet then tightend it down. I checked tank clearence and there is plenty. Buttoned it up and went racing this weekend- performed flawlessly- easier starting and no more points to deal with.
