Hi all, new to the forum.. so a quick introduction. I am Rowan, from Oxfordshire in the UK. First vintage Dirt bike that I purchased was a 1973 CR250, however it has had an engine swap to an MT250. Also just looking at purchasing a few other 60's/70's bikes with my father at the moment.. a few projects to get our teeth into. I have a question, which was my reason for seeking out a Forum.. There is a Mikuni carb fitted to my bike, however I cannot identify it at all.. (will get the numbers from it at some point) but I have searched high and low - to no avail. I recently took it apart to clean and in all of my wisdom, put the floats back in upside down, so when I put it back together I have bent the little float lever/tang inside.. so struggling to get it back to the right angle. basically I am considering purchasing a new Carb for the bike - so my question is " what carb would people recommend for the MT250 engine?" My Kick starter also doesn't spring-back and flails around.. any ideas how I can fix this (aside from the bendy bit of metal used to hold it in place at the moment ![]() |

Your kick start spring is broken and the only way I know to fix it is find one on ebay .split the case and put the non broken one in. I'd find a service manual while I was at it also. take lots of pictures before also. |

On your kick starter your spring(28258-357-020) is weak or broken which in turn most likely broke your pawl(28255-357-010) You do not have to split the cases to inspect and change just remove the clutch cover and remove the return spring and the kick shaft will pull out. But I would definitely get a manual. Good luck |
