I do not have headlight, tail light,Gauge lights, neutral light or horn. I do have turn signals and brake lights. New Battery Tested the stator via manual and tested good Changed out rectifier with spares and also checked as per manual. Checked all grounds Checked that I was getting 6 volts to the wires in the head light Swapped out light swithches I did have high beam light only for a bit with the bike running and being revved up I understand that I should at least have gauge, tail lights and horn off of battery. Any ideas??? |

Hello, did you ohms test the bulbs themselves? EVERY bulb on mine was buggered when I got it. Horns are cheaply made and can get corroded enough inside to seize up the mechanism. With the engine off and key switch and light switch on, all of the lights should work with the exception of the headlight; it's powered by a coil. A good, healthy battery is crucial to a 6v system. |

I had all new bulbs and the horn was working on a weak battery, I started the bike and it blew all the bulbs and messed up the horn. I have just installed a new battery but the horn is still not working. My stator is only putting out 4.45 volts on the yellow and the pink wire. The rectifier tested good I think I had two diodes test around 5.55 both ways and one test 10.33 both ways. (I actually have two other spares and they tested the same way) Someone said that a dead battery will sometimes cause the bulbs to blow ??? |

These have no regulators so MAKE SURE all wire connectors are clean and tight. If not your alternator will not get to the battery and run away as the lead acid battery "pushes back" against this (sorta regulates). The manual says to check the water level before EVERY RIDE and I see why. I cooked my new battery in 3 months and guess what? No water inside. On my '75 I carefully rebuilt EVERY switch on the handlebar and then cleaned EVERY push connector inside the headlight. Also, be careful about the huge resistor on the headlight mount frame as without it the expen$ive headlight bulb will POP. Don't ask. ![]() Rick |
