Anyone know any tricks or good products for removing the rust from the inside of a steel MR/MT tank?

Keith,

There are at least two old post about this subject. Use the search feature ( Spyglass under Knowledge Base ) and type in Tank Rust and then try Rusty Tank. Happy shaking! :D

the best rust removal i've found yet is Distilled White Vinigar. You can get a gallon for under 2 bucks at the grocery store. Just pour it in the tank and let it sit a couple days. then just get a bottle cleaner and brush the stuff away. it comes off like nothing after soaking in the vinigar. this also works really well with bolts, just remember to spray down with WD-40 after you remove the rust, or else it'll return.

I used to use gravel or nuts and bolts but switched over to ~3-6 feet of chain. Seems to rattle around better and I never get an odd chunk of rock or nut left behind when I pull it out.

Good idea on the chain. (not a motorcycle chain). I will do that the next time over gravel...
