Post subject: | MT250 Oil Pump Connections |
I purchased a 1975 MT250 with a 1974 engine. The previous owner removed all the connections for the oil injection although the oil pump is still there. I am attempting to restore the bike to like new condition, but have questions regarding how the oil pump functions. I have obtained the oil tank, the line that runs from the tank to the oil pump and the line that runs from the oil pump to the manifold. I can't tell from the parts manual, but isn't there a cable involved that adjusts the oil feed? For the life of me I can't find a diagram anywhere that depicts a cable or any adjustment options. Any help would be appreciated...diagram REALLY appreciated. thanks, |

Here's a link to the MT250 shop manual - page 19 should help: http://honda-elsinore.alp-sys.com/manua ... 5mt250.pdf The throttle/oil pump dual cable is Honda p/n 17910-358-010. Try Googling it, you might find one for sale (they show up on eBay from time to time too). Ray |

Thanks for the note Ray. I'm still somewhat in the dark though. I have never seen a photo or diagram of the dual cable throttle set up. I have a Clymer manual and viewed the one from the link you sent and all the throttle cables look like a single tube. Am I missing something here? Is there one cable that splits past the handle grip? Or are there two cables (one carb, one oil pump) coming out of the grip and to each individual function? I appreciate any info. thanks, |

The MT250 throttle cable has a single top cable from the throttle grip that goes to a 1-to-2 'cable splitter' section, which has two shorter cables running from it to the carb and oil pump. Here's a photo of the MT250 cable: http://images.cmsnl.com/img/products/ca ... 1_acbf.jpg ... and here's a pic of another similar cable that shows the 1-to-2 section better: http://images.cmsnl.com/img/products/wi ... 1_e11d.jpg Ray |

Thanks Ray, The photo clears it up for me. Of course, finding the cable now looks like it's going to take a while. take care, David |

I purchased my throttle cable from these folks: http://www.remarcables.com.au/Motorcycl ... Cable-Set5 Go to the website, bookmark the cable then request a quote. They get back to you with the cost and how to order. I know it sounds questionable, I tried it and received the quote and later the cable. It looks to be of good quality, it fits perfectly and it works. The costs was around $50. don't remember exact amount but very reasonable. |

Hi Kevin, I also requested a quote from Remar cables. The price was $186 for the cable and $35 for shipping so needless to say I did not follow through with that option. Ray sent me a photo of an MT125 throttle cable and I'm wondering if it will fit the MT250. I have the question posted on the cmsnl.com forum but have not received a response. |

If my memory serves me right, the 125 cable is too short. |

I know this is an older post but if you're still searching for a throttle cable you may try: http://www.barnettclutches.com/cables.html |
