I picked up a very used tail light for the MT250 project I'm working on and I plan on having it re-chromed. The only problem is, I can't find a way to remove the reflector from the back plate of the light. Has anyone run into this problem before?

The reflector's usually not designed to be removed - the ones I've seen were either riveted or crimped in place. The chroming shop will definitely be able to remove it, whether you're happy with the way they do it or not. :(

Have you seen this aftermarket light assembly? It's way cheaper than chroming the old one will be.

Hi Ray,
Again, thanks for your expertise. Yes, this is definitely the way to go. I'm going to rechrome the tail light bracket, but this aftermarket light is going to be a lot better than tearing apart the old one, chroming and trying to put it back together. Thanks again. Attached is a photo of what I'm starting with. It's really pretty complete for what I paid for it ($425). I'm working on the engine now while the frame is being blasted and painted and the tank repaired, sealed and painted. My last project was a 1966 CB77 Superhawk, pics attached. I'm creating a website for it right now with all the restoration images. I'll share with you when I'm finished.
take care,
David

That CB77 looks great! I'm sure the MT will too.
