I have a question I hope some of you can help answer. I bought another 1980 cr125. My son does not like me riding his. The bike showed up and I started tearing it down for rebuild. I noticed the swing arm is from a 1979 cr125. Why would they have done this? This bike came with Fox Air Shox and Simons forks. Good find. Just wondering if I should go back to the'80 swing arm. Appreciate the opinions.

If it were my bike, I'd put the '80 arm back on. IMO the '80 'banana' style arm & normal shock angle is much better than the older lay-down setup.

If you fit a 1980 swingarm you will need to replace the shocks , the 79's will be way to long. Tbh I've raced both 1980 and 79 and I would stay with the 79 arm and look for an aluminium 79 arm. Neither stock arm's are great and both are very heavy. I actually prefer the 79 bike when it's sorted.
