Ok Im pretty sure Im a victim of a bad ignition coil, (im getting very weak spark not enough to cause combustion) my question is do you think a 6 volt ignition coil for an old automobile would work to replace the stock coil |

What I did was use a 6V motorcycle coil from J.C. Whitney on an XR75. The XR had previously had a MT coil on it for a few days so it implies the 6V coild would have worked on the MT. The mounting for none of them line up of course. It may be a better fit if you get a coil out of any XL except the 175, an XR pre CDI like 73 XR75. I believe the coils are actually labeled ~6VAC impling they are an AC coil. The 175XL and most of the street bikes like 125SL or CB used DC coils. |
