Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

This site was very helpful in getting my 74 MT250 to run.My wife found the bike under some branches curbside.It had been sitting for awhile,1225 miles on the odometer.I felt it was worth getting it to run again.The carb was the biggest pain.Getting the float level set just right was a patience tester.I now have to get a plastic tank of some sort as my original is rusted out,also a decent seat.Will post some pics later.

Tanks are on Ebay all of the time.

Road test it yet? Mine's a '74 and I'm kind of fond of it. Sweet little scooter.

I have ridden it a couple of times, still adjusting on the float. I have it just about dialed in. It does seem to have some good power. Once I get the fuel tank and my stator cover I will be able to take it out for a good run on the trails. My last Honda was a 1984 CR250R, sure hated to get rid of it then. I will most likely look at getting a second bike for when friends need one to ride.

If your tank is just rusty on the inside, Yamaha makes a good acid-based cleaning solution. I've used it many times. Otherwise, ebay it!

The tank is pretty much hosed, I'm not looking to restore this one but to have a good trail bike when I go off-roading.It will sure come in handy if I break down on Hwy and need wheels to get parts etc.

I,m waiting on a stator cover and gas tank.Then I should be able to take it out to the spillway for some fun.
