What's the deal with the CR125 rod kits? I think they're HotRod kits.
Must be a kit for another crank, really. Because it says you have to modify the crank pin holes. Anybody have any experience doing this?
Are there any other options out there?

I use a 1981 Weisco Hot Rod kit in my CR125 motors. Yes the crank halves have to be modified because the crank pin is larger than the stock pin. You can probally get the stock rod & pin through the dealer but it's not as strong.

Frohrs is right. I highly recommend the 81 to 83 CR125 rod kit mod where they bore out the holes in the crank about 1mm to accept the later rod type. It is not cheap, around here they charge $60 per hole to do the boring plus the rod kit and labor. But if you buy a rod from Honda the rod alone is $160 and I heard the pins are discontinued anyway. The 81 rod kits are less than $100 last time I checked for everything. Once you do the mod it should last a long time. If it ever did wear out you only need another 81 rod kit plus labor.
