Hello,

Can someone tell me what aftermarket shifters (folding)work best with the 79 CR 250?

I plan on installing wider footpegs from a CR 450 so please keep this in mind when suggesting options.

Thanks for the space,

Paul

This comes up pretty regularly. It seems you will not find a folding shift lever for this particularly bike. However you can find levers that will fit the splines on the shift shaft - a 1983 CR480R was one that was mentioned. You then need to bend and cut the lever to fit. I rode at the weekend on a 1979 CR250R that had what looked like a straight Moose folding lever that had been cut to size and re-welded. It was easier to use than the stock lever on my bike. Of course if you put the wider pegs on first you can make it work specifically for them...
