Post subject: | swingarm bushings for 74 CR 250 |
I have a question regarding the swingarm for a 74 CR 250. I just replaced the bushings with bronze ones and want to know if steel sleeve that fits between the bushings and the pivot axle is to have any play in it or is it suppose to be press into the swingarm just like the bushings were. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Ed |

Hey Ed, I had the same problem when I replaced the swingarm bushings on my 74 CR250. The steel sleeve should be a slip fit and pivot with little resistance. When I first put the bushings in the swing arm, the sleeve was binding up. I carefully knocked out the bushing with a piece of wood, do not use a metal drift pin as it will dent the brass and ruin the bushings. Then I sanded down any high spots in the swing arm where the bushing press in, mine was slightly rusted causing the bushing to be "squished" too much thus pinching the steel sleeve. Careful not to take out too much that the bushing doesnt slip into the swingarm. This fixed the problem and I could turn the sleeve in the bushings by hand when I was done. I believe I got my bushings from Vintage Elsinores, where did you get yours? Matt |
