OK, there are a lot of reproduction decals for Elsinores out there. Some are excellent and others are crap. What experience, good and/or bad, have you had with reproduction Elsinore decals?

Please be specific as to what year and model of Elsinore. What decals were included? Include where you purchased them and include either the web address or other contact info. Rate the decals on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best.

Hopefully this topic will gather a lot of good info for everyone so future restorations will be as accurate as possible. If we get enough useable data I will create a page dedicated to just this topic for easy reference.

Thanks,

Nathan

OK, I'll get it started. When I first started getting back into this in 2001 I ordered a set of decals for a 73-74 CR250M from Vintage Iron (http://www.vintageiron.com). They were pricey ($39.99) but had every decal I needed. I received them and discovered they had this thick plasitc coating on them. Also the Honda Wing was yellow, not the gold color it should be. Totally unacceptable for an authentic reproduction.

I never used them. What a waste of money. I guess they could be used for a racer if you really didn't care all that much for authenticity. Oh, and I would imagine if you tried to clear coat over these decals you would run into all kinds of problems. They make fair toolbox stickers, which is what I ended up using them for. Pretty expensive toolbox stickers!

I'd rate these decals as a 2 out of 10.

You can see these crappy decals here: http://www.vintageiron.com/graphics.cfm

I agree with your assessment of the vintage iron stickers. I have had good luck with Red Racer. The tank stickers seem to match the original fairly well and were the correct thickness.(I think about 9.00 a pair. I also ordered a set of number plate stickers which seems to not entirely fill the round portion on my original front and side plates. A quarter inch gap still exists. They also did not match the original elsinore green color of my tank. Cost about 10.00 Red Racer was very efficient in their shipping!!

Red Racer decals are good. Three years ago I put large Fox stickers on the sides of my CR250R tank to cover the wear marks temporarily and they are still there. :D

I've used reproductiondecals.com. for my restoration and highly recommend them.
I sent them samples of the DID rim stickers and Showa 360 shock stickers and they copied them perfectly. They form part of their set now.
They still don't have the rear fender sticker though. If anyone has an old original rear fender sticker sample for them they will add it too.
Red Racer stickers are good too but I can recognize a Red Racer sidecover sticker because the right downstroke of the letter M is a little thinner than on the rest of the letters.
