Post subject:  Removing Oil Pump, mt250

Has anyone ever tried this. After reading the manaul it seems that it is a small pump mounted on the case driven by a cam gear. I would like to totally remove it as I am plugging the intake manifold hole since there is no need for the oil injection system.

If I remove the pump and make a custom blockoff plate, should I be good to go? I dont really want to leave the pump of so it just sucks air. It might cause a problem or get air sucked in the line.

thanks
erik

Hey:

You don't want to leave the line open. It will suck air and dirt into the intake. The engine will run lean and hot not to mention doing damage from both things. Remove the line at the intake an fabricate a bolt to replace it.

Then you have the problem of premixing. Start at about 30 to 1. Check your plug readings.I know this is way rich, but a few fouled spark plugs are better than a seized engine. If all is good you can try 40 to 1 and do the same plug readings and jetting tests till you find the correct color for the spark plug. You will probally run premix between 40 to 1 to 50 to 1

40 to 50:1? Is this normal for all (cr,mr and "fixed" mt's) or just for the mt's? I keep finding 32:1 as the norm. But I have no problem with a higher ratio if it works ok.

Depends on how you jet it! But 32 to 1 is good if it works.
