Post subject:  Do I need a battery?

I just bought a '75 MT250. It has been setting in a storage building for a few years. I bought it to trade for another bike but that deal may not work out. My question is will this bike need a battery to run? I bought it from the original owner and it's complete but has some rust here and there. I can't decide to try and get it running or sell it as is if the other deal falls through. Thanks for the help.

Yes As far as I know:

You need a Battery to make it run.
Pt. # for the battery is: 6N6-3B. Which I think is a Yuasa #.

It needs a battery to be legal and have all the lights function properly.

It will run w/o a battery, assuming you have the key on and kill switch set for run, with the mentioned limits.

IMO get the battery and make it street legal if possible. I've seen street legal MTs go for ~$1200 but a non running, not street legal version will go for $50-$200.
