Post subject: | Bigger tires? |
As I have stated, My mr will be for trail riding. I am wanting to change the enduro tires to a more aggressive tire and would like to go up 2 or more sizes on the rear. currently the front is 3.00X21 and the rear is 3.50X18. Any suggestions? Sizes? Types? |

Mine has the original tires on it and they are 300x21 and 400x18. I just bought an extra rear wheel and it has a 450 on it so they must fit. I also have an old Cycle magazine from April 1976 and they put a 350 on the front to help in desert racing |

cool! So my rear has been changed to a smaller size... no wonder it doesn't look right. A couple of more, if you don't mind, are your tires enduro style or a knobby (dirt only) style? Have tire companies changed the sizing info for bike tires like they did car tires? I was on a site looking at tires and none of the numbers matched what I had. There were no 3.00X21 and such. Good lord am I showing my age or just my stupidity? |

Mine are knobbies, the front one is called Motocross-7 and the rear is Motocross-6, and are original to the bike with only 1150 miles on them. Your right the sizes have been changed and as I understand some tire companies web sites have the sizing charts on them, but I have never looked myself. |

Back in the day metzler was the tire of choice. I've checked out a couple of sites and see that they seem reasonable. I am going over to a bike shop in the next town on saturday to pick up my parts and thought I'd check out their selection. I've been out of bikes longer than I was into them and man, things have changed!!! |
