Post subject:  clutch/starter spring question

Bought some clutch plates on DaBay. Of course they are wrong. Probably for MT, not MR which apparently uses same plates as CR. My clutch had been sticking. I think the bike sat for a few years. The plates, however looked really good, so I put them on 400 sandpaper and did the figure 8 a few times (somebody told me this could help--hope so). What would cause a clutch to stick?? I could pull the cable, but the bike would still had compression when it was in gear with the cable pulled.
MORE IMPORTANT, however, is how do I insure the starter spring is in the right position when I reassemble the case??? Thanks, Mitch

Your fingers on the basket may have grooves in it. This is easily removed with a 1" file... being careful to only remove as much as possible, no more.
The starter spring is pretty easy to install. It only goes on one way. I wish I took a pic last weekend when I put a new clutch assy in the CR. Sorry.

What oil are you running in the engine? What is the temperature outside?
Maybe?? that is causing some of the sticking?
