Post subject: | clutch/starter spring question |
Bought some clutch plates on DaBay. Of course they are wrong. Probably for MT, not MR which apparently uses same plates as CR. My clutch had been sticking. I think the bike sat for a few years. The plates, however looked really good, so I put them on 400 sandpaper and did the figure 8 a few times (somebody told me this could help--hope so). What would cause a clutch to stick?? I could pull the cable, but the bike would still had compression when it was in gear with the cable pulled. MORE IMPORTANT, however, is how do I insure the starter spring is in the right position when I reassemble the case??? Thanks, Mitch |

Your fingers on the basket may have grooves in it. This is easily removed with a 1" file... being careful to only remove as much as possible, no more. The starter spring is pretty easy to install. It only goes on one way. I wish I took a pic last weekend when I put a new clutch assy in the CR. Sorry. What oil are you running in the engine? What is the temperature outside? Maybe?? that is causing some of the sticking? |
