I bought a '75 MT250 awhile back. It's been sitting for a few years and I want to crank it. I have ordered a manual but it will be a few days before it gets here. I would like to drain and change the oil, does the MT250 have both engine oil and transmission oil? Also someone told me to pre-mix the gas/oil and check the pumps operation. What should the ratio be ? Anything else I should do before bringing this back to life? Thanks

Check the clutch for proper operation, they stick if the bike has been sitting for a number of years.

If you haven't already cleaned the carb, it is almost a sure bet the jets are plugged. Good idea to drop the bowl and clean out any crud.

If your spark isn't there, the points sometimes oxidize on older bikes to the point where they won't conduct even when they are closed. Wouldn't hurt to take a points file to them anyway.

I have seen MTs with oil pump problems. Just run 32:1 mix until you are sure it is working right.
