Post subject:  KN Filter vs. Uni Air Filter & Question....

Which do you guys think would work better on my 78 CR250..... The UNI Air Filters they make for our bikes, or the KN Filters? If both were the same price. I have a KN on my car and I like it, but maybe the UNI air filters are even better and maybe a KN isnt as good for a bike?

Also, it looks like red-racer.com is no longer, so I was wondering if elsinores.com is still legit and in business? Is there anywhere else on the net that sell pipes/silencers for my bike other then elsinores.com?

Thanks

The OEM filter is still available from your Honda dealer. The UNI filter requires you to clamp the foam directly to the gold-colored mount and this IMO is more than a little suspect. The Twin Air filter comes with a rubber carb boot already attached which replaces the stock mount, filter cage and carb boot. This looks sweet until you realize the boot is smaller than the hole in the front of the airbox and it needs some fettling to mount and keep it in place. I do not have any experience with K&N filters for dirt bikes.

I've used the UNI filter on my 79 CR250R and it is OK as for filtering the dirt, but it is a royal pain in the you know what to put on. There isn't a lot of room for your hands inside the airbox and trying to get a hose clamp on that sucker is almost impossible. Go with the K&N or stock filter.
