I wanted to first offer up my elsie to those who may appreciate it most, before that dreaded auction site.........

I will take some photos, but here is a basic description.

1975 CR250 Elsie serial number 2003035 or something like that.
Point being, it is a CR 75'

Bike is mostly dissasembled, I was going to do a full frame up restoration but honestly dont have the time, plus dealing with some health concerns that are more important, operations in the near future and such.

Bike needs
The original gas tank
a new seat
left side engine cover

other than that it is complete, has great compression
And I have the original pink slip, I am the second owner
My brother in law (45 yrs old) was given the bike new by his dad and he has kept it all these years.

very minor surface rust on a few spots on the frame, nothing that would need sanding, only some steel wool and elbow grease.

Engine is in good shape, doesnt need a top end, stock bore, just needs a tune up kit from re-mx. (points, condensor, plug)
minor leak from a seal, nothing to split cases over.

I would rather sell the whole bike rather than part it out.
How much? I dont know honestly, how about first honest offer, and I would rather not ship it.

Once again it is completely torn down, rolling frame with bars, suspension and motor still on the frame, everything else is in a large crate.
NO ORIGINAL GAS TANK INLCUDED, orignal seat needs new foam and cover.

I've read something to the effect of

"It is best to spend the money up front for a good bike then to save a buck and buy a bad one."

The logic behind this is a $50 parts bike will cost $4,000 by the time you finish restoring it and a $1,500 'one owner, parked in a garage for the last 20 years' will end up costing you $4,000 by the time you finish restoring it. The difference is that $50 part bike also requires a year and a half looking for parts and a lot more elbow grease.

That being said. Tank, seat, and side covers are 3 of the hardest things to find. I would guess around $400 would be a fair price for yours. The thing still has that much value in the rims, engine, etcetera, if you were to part it out. You could probably find someone that has a CR with blown engine, bent rims, but a gas tank and seat, that would want it to make one out of two.
