this was Yamaha's attempt at making a Motocross bike and yes the suspension was really bad.i put on a 1973 MX360 set of forks and Triple tree and Progressive 13" shocks so it now handles quite acceptable for general riding around.

these are pictures of of my 1970 RT1M with my 1975 Honda CR250M1 and my 1975 Honda CR250R. how far Japan had come in 9 years!

Yeah Dave, I know you are an Elsinore freak. I've owned a couple myself. I set up a set of Curnutts this past week for a guy in our club. He is going for the #1 plate in the District 37 Classic Division. He really liked how they worked. We went out and tested and he is going just about as fast as a modern bike.

here is a factory brochure for these machines, they are rare at around 2500 or so of these made because they came out around August 1970.the 1971 models were to b produced a short time later and most new model years begin around October or November. this itself explains the low number of these being produced.the only bike that is rarer is the 1969 DT1S at around 2200 units or so.

these are videos of the stock pipe installed and one video with a Bassani RT series pipe installed.2 ride videos and one of myself speaking about the stock pipe.

the videos do not do justice to how loud the non silenced RT1M and RT1 MX pipes.the Bassani is much milder sounding but it also makes a little less power than it does with the MX pipe on it.

click the images to play the videos.

this is a ride video with the original un silenced pipe on it.i have a badly slipping clutch in this video, sorry about the poor camera work in this one.

this is another ride video with the Bassani pipe on it.
