I noticed a problem with the gear shift spindle moving in an out to much, so I took the left side cover off. Pulled the clutch out, that needs lots of work (new plates and springs, and of course the basket has major grooves). I found that the CirClip on the spindle had moved in towards the engine almost a 1/4 of an inch. No wonder the spindle was moving so much. I pulled off the Drum Shifter and looked at the neutral stop and Drum stop, both looked good, put the Drum in the neutral position, or what appears to be that. The mark on the Drum lines up with the Spindle location, not on the guide post for the Setting Plate. I think that is part of the problem, but the Drum is not going to go that far, it is close though. Now the Drum Shifter will not line up with the Gearshift Spindle, if the Drum Shifter is not locked into one of the notches it will. But then when you shift it does not move the Drum.
Ideas?
