I'm going to make a mix of 50/50 VP and pump gas. Which premium pump gas should I use? Chevron has the Techroline additive in it. Will that have an effect on performance?

I run VP C-12 and 91 octane pump gas mixed 50:50 with Bel-Ray MC-1 at 50:1. Made the bike easier to jet and made a slight detontation go away.

Michael,

Thanks! I'm going with Chevron and VP + MC-1 at 40:1 because it's the CR125.

http://www.vpracingfuels.com/ is a provider of gas that performs better than what you can get from the pump at your local gas station. And they have something for everyone from a top fuel dragster to our humble historic motocross bikes. (Very!) simply put they provide gas with a higher octane rating to prevent detonation in engines with more compression (power) and/or a higher oxygen content so the fuel generates more energy (power) when combusted.

C12
The best all around racing fuel made. Recommended for CRs below 15:1, satisfying the needs of 75% of today's race engines.
• Color: Green
• Motor Octane: 108
‚Ä¢ Specific gravity: .717 at 60¬? F

This particular blend is a leaded fuel that you cannot buy at the gas station. Note the 108 octane which is reduced when it is blended with regular 91 octane pump gas, but the end result is still better but a little more economical. Unless you modify your engine to the point that you need 104+ octane to prevent it blowing up, this is choice. I found (perceived?) that my bike ran cleaner with it so I make the investment, but mix it to be a little economical. Also this stuff really stinks so don't get it all over the garage floor etc. It will go "off" if left for weeks in your gas tank so it is best to mix just what you need for a specific ride/race and afterwards drain the remainder back into a metal can.

Hi Michael,

I just got a can of C-12 as the shop was out of the Red that I usually run. What gives it that weird smell? And what do you mean it can go "off"? Is it reactive with something?

Gee... maybe having my hazmat ops cert is going to come in handy.

I have read that if you leave it in your plastic gas tank it will evaporate faster than regular gas, and therefore you should keep it in the original blue can or another metal container. Obviously if you have a metal gas tank it's no problem.
