Guys

I am rebuilding a 1976 CR125M.

Where would you advise me to buy my plastcs from? i.e fenders, sidepanels etc.

Red Racer?

I am in the United Kingdom but will look at all options. Is there a place in Europe??

many thanks

Ruairi

I have been waiting for plastics for my CR250M from Red Racer for over 4 months now.
Every time I email them asking for an update all I get is "any day now"...
I'm ready to ask for my money back!
I read on this forum that Scott Steger has sold the company awhile back but whoever I am emailing at Red Racer is using Scott as their name so I'm a bit suspect on the whole deal.
Surely its not too much to expect to get an honest answer????

Red Racer was sold by Scott Steger, but bought back recently. I have had nothing but good experience with Red Racer under both owners. I am waiting on a repro swing arm and expect that Scott will need collect a number of orders before committing to a production run. This may be the case with your plastic.

I have had very good experiences with Scott at Red Racer also. He has been most helpful. I would not sweat it....Scott will come through for you.

Good Luck!

Have any of you guys bought plastics off eBay from a company called DC Plastics? $200 for a full set of plastics. Sounds too good to be true so possibly is.

Just wondered if the colour matches Tahitian Red?

I talked to the guy from DC Plastic that sells on e-bay about another plastic item & the guy seems to be a real nice guy. I have seen his stuff on e-bay too but I don't how close it is to Tahitian Red by the pic. His plastic looks like pretty good quality stuff.

Hope this helps.

I had waited for months on end for another supplier of plastics for the old CR125 I was restoring. Red on this forum about DC plastics, SO I bought a set of them. Seem to be pretty well made. ONly real complaint is that teh lower section of the sidepanels where the retnetion band slips over, there is not much of a lip at all to hold it in place adn had to do some minor mods. No big deal. Here's a pic of the bike. THe frame was done with the Tahatian Red from red-racer. Plastics match pretty good. Sorry about the weak flash.

Service was prompt, got them right away.[/img]

Charlie.

The plastics on you bike look good enough to me. Lovely bike by the way.

I am still waiting since order placed on 30th Sept for a front fender and fork boots from another supplier.

I am going to give DC Plastics a go and see what service I get from them.

The service from the US is normally red hot so I cannot understand why I am still waiting.

I dunno, but I have been waiting since April for 1980 CR250R side panels from Red Racer and all I get is excuses and, more recently, no response and/or their mailbox is full. They don't ever seem to answer the phone.
I ordered both fenders and side panels. I got the fenders with an enclosed a note stating that the side panels are "BACKORDERED". They still have my money and I haven't seen the product.
Recently I went on eBay and ordered some Mugen-like side panels. I don't know what these fit, however, I know that they don't fit any of my '78-'80 CR250Rs. The finish isn't so hot either.

Wow Folks!

I feel your pain. I have always received all the items I have ordered from Red Racer, but I can be pretty persistent when someone has my money. Last spring I had to wait 3 months for a plastics order, but I kept calling until they were shipped.

This summer Scott came back to help Red Racer. He was very helpful and nice when I ordered some things in July. Now it looks like he is no longer involved with Red Racer.

The internet can be a great tool. Do whatever you need to do to get that order shipped!

Well its the 8 month anniversary of ordering my plastics etc from Red Racer and I can't even get a reply to my emails!

Even a 'Dear Glenna, get stuffed, I've spent your money on crack" reply would be preferable....

Grrrrrr....
