Will a crankcase/shaft seal kit for a 78 work on a 76?

Nope. All the seals in a 76 are the same as the 74 and 75 but only those years. The 78 to 80 are all different sizes except the shift shaft seal.

Thanks for the response! Saved me a bundle.

Just got a set of used cases and they came with no seals and main bearings snicker like steel roller skates on concrete. The guy<gal?> did have a set for a '76 available too.

Just noticed the new cases are missing the seal for the shift shaft. Too late to order a full set of seals vs. the mains that I ordered but maybe I can just get it from a local shop.
