I REALLY THINK IT SHOULD GO FOR $20,000. THERE CAN ONLY BE A HANDFUL OF THESE.

Being a cynic, I of course wonder how new the bike really is, which probably holds the value down a bit compared to if I knew the original Honda dealer and was satisfied of the actual brand-newness of the bike. But I do agree that I wouldn't be suprised at all to see it go for $20,000 and I think it is worth every bit of that and more, if his story is accurate.

The owner cancelled the listing. Sound like it may not be as original as claimed. It sure is a beautiful bike bike though. Can any of you 73/74 CR250 experts spot the questionable areas?
When my bike was new I remember that there was yellow marking paint on some of the bolts.

I'm no "expert" but I took a closer look at the pics when he first listed it and noticed a few items that were OE Honda but not OE '73/74 Honda. The clutch cable is from a later year because there is no spring guard around the cable at the case end. The rear axle is a "381" (supercedes the "357") part from a later year. The only other thing I noticed were the carb vent tubes look to be from a 125 because they are too short, Honda actually specifies the length of these tubes in the part description. The seller stated that their were parts sold off this bike before he got it which would explain why some of the replacements were supercedes. He also said the front number plate band and tires were replacements.

Looks to me like the seller was trying to be upfront and accurate, I doubt if some of the people running up the bid for this bike would have known about these minor discrepencies. I wish him luck finding NOS replacements, especially that clutch cable.
