Cant get a stock filter. Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacment or modification that would work. 1977 MR 175. Thanks

Good luck. I have looked for this filter for years. I gave up and made my own.

If you still have the old filter cage, you can try what I have done. It works great, but takes a little patience.
You can buy universal sheets of filter foam at most well equipped bike shops. Cut pieces and rap around the steel cage until you have a good fit. Then use a hot-glue gun and glue the joints.

If that is too much trouble, K&N air-filters make universal cylinder-shaped filters that with the right boot will clamp right on to the carb. Not so good for the real dirt, as water can get sucked in.

Thanks for the glue gun idea. I have the filter sheet. The glue gun will make it easier to get a good fit.

I found a UNI filter for the mr175 - part number NU 4026. I bought it from dabbernz on ebay. Search feedback forum to find a contact link. He's in New Zealand but shipped very fast and was great to deal with. The US Uni site doesn't list it but the package references http://www.unifilter.com.au - you may be able to get it direct.
