Searched the forum but no answers. Seems that brakes are the hot topic lately. I am swapping a cr480 front wheel onto my 80 cr250 for the better brakeing. My problem is that i do not know what year the wheel was and i want to order up new brakes for it but the brakes are year specific from 82 to 83. anyone have any ideas on how to determin what year wheel i have? i though that maybe the drum diameter may be different from year to year but i do not know the specs from honda.

drum diameter is always 130mm.
83 has straight spokes and holes in the larger brakelever.

my primary lever does not have the lightening holes in it. I have an 82 front wheel. thanks for the help! I am assuming the differences in the pads are the diameter of the pads to make up for reduced travel due to the longer lever arm??

The brake backing plate on the 1982 cr480 has the return spring that wraps around the shaft on the actuator arm, and on the 83 it's a coil type that attaches to the tail end of the arm and a tab on the backing plate. I have found that the easiest way to ID the year of the wheel is to check the DOT. month and year stamp on the rim, 9/82 and up is 1983

Just wondering I too have an 80cr250 that I just bought. Will the 82 or 3 double leader fit in the stock 80 hub?
