Hi,

I have blown fork seals in my stock MR250E fork. I plan to replace the seals, but while I was out in the garage today I had an idea.

I have a rebuilt 1980 XL500 fork sitting around that will fit the MR250E triple tree. The stock specs for these two bikes list the MR250 as having 7.1" of fork travel, while the XL500 has 8" of fork travel.

It seems like 4 years of fork technology may potentially make the XL500 fork a better fork. (Even though it was not designed for motocross like the MR250 fork.

Do you think this would be a good donor fork, or should I just rebuild the stocker?

Thank you,
Craig

Well I do know that the xl500 is a lot heavier so the springs may be a little much for the mr250 but I dont know. I have a set of xl250 shocks on the back of my mt250.
