I have an oil leak on my 75 CR125m. I need to look closer but it is either the countershaft seal or the shift lever seal. My question is, can either of these seals be replaced without splitting the cases? I am not sure if they are pressed in from the inside or out. Any advise would be appreciated.

OK, let me try posting this again... hopefully it won't get wiped out (again)...

I've changed the countershaft seal out on my MR and CR motors without splitting the cases. I driled two 3/32" holes into the seal metal - one on each side, and about 1/16" in from the edge. I then screwed in two 6-32 self-tapping screws and used them to pull the seal out. Afterwards, I removed the oil fill cap (to minimize gearbox vacuum) and vacuumed out the seal seating area and bearing. I was careful not to drill in too far, and everything came out fine. Be sure to clean everything well and lube the seal lips before pressing the seal in, and be careful of sharp edges on the sprocket splines. I've never replaced a shifter shaft seal.

The 20x32x6mm countershaft seal is Honda P/N 91201-360-005, and the 14X28X7mm shift shaft seal is P/N 91206-286-013. Both are still available.

Thanks Ray, I was able to verify today that it is the countershaft seal that is leaking. The shifter is not leaking. I will try your described method. Thanks again.

I ended up using a small flat head screwdriver and worked it under the inside edge of the countershaft seal. I then carefully rotated the screwdriver around the countershaft. The seal popped right out, cleaned everything up and installed the new seal with the old deepwell socket trick.....NO MORE LEAK...yahoo!
