I have a question about the blinker relay under side cover....

the rear blinkers don't work....the front will light up.....the eft rear has a faint light so must be getting power...

wiring looks ok...

the relay under the side cover is a 2 prong....but here is a third green wire hanging loose....for the rears?

I bought a new relay and is a prong also....thats what showed to use on the microfiche I looked at...

so should it be a 3 prong relay or 2...

if a 3 whee can I get one?

if a 2 prong is right I guess a short......

The wiring diagram shows a 3-prong 'winker relay', with connections for ground (green), power in (red? black? it doesn't show), and blinking power out (gray?) to the turn signal switch.

This relay switches the 'hot' (6V) side of the bulbs, and it could be the 2-prong relay is designed to switch the ground side. This might explain the relay not working and the bulbs staying lit. If the relay has a metal case, try grounding it with the green wire.

It looks like there are 5 different part numbers for the relay. P/N 38300-243-670 appears to be the oldest number, which would be the one I would try to find if possible.

every diagrahm I see shows a 2 prong is what is being sold now....

must be a 3 prog originally?....

anyone out there with a MT125 can you look to see unde the leftside cover to see if your relay is a 2 or 3 prong?

the unused wire is green and it has a puh on connector so must have gone to the realy I would think...

anyone know of source for someone parting out one of these bikes?

Its your battery not the blinker box get a new battery and make sure its fully charged and they should work fine. My mt250 has a two prong box and yes it has three wires but I only use two and it works fine. I also have a bunch of xls from the 70's also honda enduros and they all have two prong boxes but three wires. I have always wondered what that ground was for as its not ever used on any of my bikes from honda. Not saying your wrong ray just how every one of my hondas are setup and were when I got them.

Hey, no problem at all - thanks for the info, I'm glad to know about it! My buddy's MT250 blinkers don't work either - I'll be sure and charge that battery up first thing.

Mine is also the 2 prong flasher, and I've never found out what that 3rd 'spare' wire was for.

Maybe someone can confirm something? On the wiring diagram it does not say which prong is for the grey wire & the black wire. Or would this mean it doesn't matter? The flasher is a rectangle shape with one prong parellel to the long side and the other prong parellel to the short side. Perhaps someone can take a peek and confirm which wire goes where. Thanks in advance.

The rear blinkers on my mt250 were also not working properly and it was because they were not on really tight. They have no ground wire and so have to be on real secure as they ground to the frame so if there a tiny bit loose they wont ground and wont work. Also make sure to check the bolt at the top of the signal stem the one that holds on the round blinker part on if its loose it messes with the ground as well.
