I found a 1974 cr rolling chassis and motor and a complete mt 125 can I build a cr out of the two? Will the mt tank and seat fit the cr? How many of the mt parts interchange with The cr I'm not trying to build a show bike just a racer. Thanks for any tips and help

I think it depends on how much of the CR chassis remains, and how close to a CR you want the finished product to be. You should be able to use certain MT parts to get the CR running again, especially if you're willing to cut, weld, grind, etc.

The tank should fit OK, but the MT seat is hinged and surely won't bolt on.

Everything ahead of the steering stem is "interchangeable" on both bikes, although most of the part numbers and specifics are different. The rear wheels should also swap out OK, but obviously are not identical. Most motor parts are different, but will interchange.

I've read here and there on the Web that the MT125 and CR125M are "practically the same bike", but after three years of trying to find parts for my CR, I've found that's just not true.

Like Ray says, it depends on how much of the CR remains.
I assume that you will use the CR motor, frame, wheels and shocks.
You will need a CR CDI and coil if you use the CR stator and rotor.
The CR carb is bigger so get one or buy a Mikuni. You need the CR intake and airbox rubber manifolds.
The CR throttle cable doen't have the split style like the MT (no oil pump on CR).
You will need the CR air filter frame that the airbox rubber manifold mounts to.
The CR rear fender and side covers form the airbox so you need those. The MT rear fender is different so it won't work properly as part of the airbox unless you moidify it.
You need the CR pipe as the MT pipe won't mount to a CR frame (and wouldn't put out much power anyways).
That's all I can think of right now.

Thanks my suspicions were correct. Are there any good places other than ebay to find cr parts?
