Hey guys im new and have some questions... im looking for some after market rear shocks for a 1979 cr125 elsinore and i would like them to be really good.. something with rebound setting.. let me know if there is anything out there that will fit my needs. Price is not a problem

He can be a little hard to get a hold of, but it is worth the wait.

Gomer,

I don't think they offer the twin shock Ohlins with rebound adjust in 17.5". The cost should be around $650 (more or less?).

If you want full adjustment, but are on a budget I would head in the direction of Fox Shox and have them re-built and setup specifically for your bike etc. If money is truly no problem I would go for a set of piggy-back Ohlins.

well i found some shocks from works that are fully adjustable.. they look nice.. but i was going to try noleen and see if they can do something with my shocks... and forks

It looks like you have Fox air shocks on your bike- and it looks like it is in excellent shape. I had Progressive shocks on my 79 CR-125 and it handled very well. Back long ago (when I was young!) I had a 79 KX-125 with Fox air shocks and it handled great.

its not my bike.. i wish... how much do u wieght.. i weight about 220 and i need something thats gonna be strong enough to hold my weight. wat would u suggest? fox. progressive. or works?

The shocks on the bike are 1979 vintage Fox Shox. You can get these second-hand on eBay for around $200. They have two adjustable air springs and you can adjust the compression damping. I know someone who does an excellent job rebuilding them.

Usually they need rebuilding for $200 and newly rebuilt sets go for around $300. I use them on my two 79 CR250's and my two '79 CR125's. I absolutely love them! I put them to the test when my throttle stuck wide open going up a hill and was sent sailing way out over the apex and then dropped two stories down onto flat ground. :shock: I thought I was going home in the meat wagon. The Fox Air Shox sucked it up and I didn't even crash. I'm sold! :P

Looks like they need rebuilding, but once they've been rebuilt they should be as good as new.

They should handle your weight by adjusting the air pressures.
