I checked out a '75 CR250 Elsinore over the weekend with the intention of buying. Everything on the bike appears to be mostly original, even the tires. I noticed the frame and engine numbers were two digits off. The frame ends in 44 and the engine in 46. Is this considered normal or could it be a replacement motor for the bike? Thanks.

I'm no expert but I have 4 Hondas, one I got new in 69, a z50 minitrail, and there is a 5559# difference between frame and engine. My ct70 which was purchased from original owner is a 283 diffrence. My tl125 is a 306 diffrence, and a mr250 I just bought is a diffrence of 1. Looks to me that the more of the model they made the greater the diffrence. Looking at my experences your cr is ok.

Gary, thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I needed to know.
