My new fiber plates only lasted one race and began slipping really bad but it was nice while it lasted.

Does anyone sell new metal plates and HD springs for this 73 - 74 CR250?
I have a used one with few miles that may work but not something I want to put on for a national race. Too much $$$ invested to have a clutch slip.

I have new fiber plates due any day now but want to replace the whole clutch.

Rick

there is a guy selling clutch plates for this model on ebay at the moment - new. Can't guarantee quality but have ordered a set myself to see what they are like?

Metal?
Read above again. I need the metal plates, not fiber plates.
If it is metal please list the item #

As a tempory fix for a slipping clutch you can add another metal plate to the pack....ie two metals back to back...
This will thicken the pack and compensate for sacked out springs and worn plates.

Good advise Pat.
When I bought this it would slip after three aggressive turns and "fix" itself after an easy lap or two. Ended up being an extra metal plate between the last friction plate and aluminum hub. At least when I removed it the problem went away. I will try this if I can't find some good metal plates.

Anyone have good luck doing a cross hatch sanding on these metal plates?

I was also going to put some washers under the springs to tighten them some but that will take some work to either find some that will fit or make them from larger diameter washers.

Years ago.(early '80's).........I recall reading an article about clutch fixes.......one of the suggestions were to use spark plug washersto shim up sagged springs.......I have no recollection what make /model clutch they were using the washers on.

I think my local vintage supplier has found a complete clutch kit for me. I will know when it arrives by early next week. YEAH!!!
Now I just need to learn to ride less aggressively. (won't happen)
