Guys,

was wondering whether you could supply some advice. I have stumbled across a couple of "Modern" bike stores in the States that claim to have large inventories of VMX parts for our bikes. They even go to the extent of listing the parts fiche and applicable prices.

Buying from Australia through these guys is difficult and before I went to the effort of setting up to do this I was wondering actually whether this is too good to be true ie why would I pay $250USD for a 1978 aircleaner box and cover when some shops still list them as available for $55USD. Additionally I would of thought if these stocks exist everyone over your way would of well and truly bought them out by now.

Any thoughts most appreciated.

regards

Rossco

You need be more specific about the company you are dealing with. For instance http://www.westernhillshonda.com buys up NOS parts, as does http://www.cmsnl.com. Their inventory is on line and the prices seem fair. CMS is more expensive with the Euro but has things I've never seen elsewhere. I've used both and been very happy. I have ordered old parts from the major on-line parts stores only to receive a "sorry out of stock" email later. Never took my money but it was a hassle.

tried to avoid being too specific but one shop in particular that lists heaps is MR Motorcycles in North Carolina. http://www.mrcycles.com

They will not sell international unless it is a US credit card or through BIDPAY which has gone belly up. So setting up a way to buy from them wasn't going to be easy and then wondering whether I would be told - "sorry no stock"

Thanks Michael for the other links - I shall give them a try now.

Hi Rossco,

Sorry, most of what Honda still has on the books for the '78 was gone years ago in the United States..

the online shops can usually get parts like cables, gaskets, sprocket fixing plates, seals etc. from the U.S Honda warehouses but not things like a new seat for a cr250m or a fuel tank for a red rocket..

Rossco- I have a very good relationship with my Honda dealer. I was there ordering parts yesterday. He can go into Hondas stock on his computer and see if parts are discontinued. Parts that he can't get are shown on the web site you provided, but I'll bet they can't get them. From my experence tho if western hills honda lists them, they have them. Gary
