Who uses a expansion chamber from vintage elsinore on there cr250m? I wanted to know how loud it was just got mine in the mail 2 days ago and it looks real loud. I like loud people see you on the street better its going on my mt250. Also how many coats of high temp black should be applied to do a good job? I was also wondering why the hanger brackets were brazed on and not welded like the rest. Only thing I could figure is because its less prone to craking cause its softer yes no?

Ok I am a little pissed at the quality of the wleds on this pipe I got it painted yesterday put 3 coats of hi temp black on brought it inside when it was dried and it has a hole in the weld. Its after the expansion chamber so I dont think it will affect anything but man 220 and it has a hole in it wtf. Anyone think I should have it welded up or just use it as it is?

I worked at bicycle company for the longest time, and no matter how careful and caring we were, we'd have our share of defects each and every year. I am sure a reputable company like the one you are working with will do everything they can to make you happy if you give them a call - maybe an earfull too! ;)

My guess is that they will offer to have you ship the pipe back and that they will weld it and pressure test it for you. You might even have luck asking them to repaint it and heat cure the finish since they caused you some grief. Don't be too hard on them though, we all benefit from vintage specialty companies making it possible for us to keep the bikes going strong. Good luck!

Ya I know no one is perfect and there is a lot of welds on the pipe and welding can be hard on ones eyes and they didnt do the welding themselves. I think I will just get my friend to weld the hole and just touch up the paint afterwards I really dont think its worth it to send it back. I am sure he would do everything he could to make me happy he seems very nice I was just a little dissapointed. I will quit whinning and deal with it.

I too have one of Vintage Elsinore's pipes for my CR250M. Mine looks great!! I didn't paint mine, I like the "works" look of the pipe. Just keep it oiled with WD40 to prevent rust.

Yea I liked the bare metal look after I painted it but things rust here in washington pretty bad so I figured it was paint it or get a clear powdercoat on it but have spent enough so I went black hi temp spray paint.
