Decided to swap some parts about as my MT250 (same as the early CRs and MR I guess?) kickstarter was slipping now and then. Whipped off the side cover and pulled the kicker unit. swapped for another one and thought i had it back in right, and it kicks the engine over and springs back, but now doesnt stop when it gets to the top, if you let it it would sping round all the way til it hits the brake pedal on the other side. So, what did I mess up? Im assuming its a simple thing, but i cant see why it wouldnt just correct itself, but it seems that it wont... :?

Ok, fixed this problem... this update is in case anyone else gets into the same trouble....

Basically I screwed up... Looking at all the pics in all the manuals it shows the correct way to fit the kicker, and finally i found the Clymer manual explained it, whereas the Honda one didnt. you need to fit it so that the tab that holds the inner spring sits at 12 oclock, then drag the other end of the spring down to the locating lug in the case. it then works properly :D

I can do some pics, but the bike Ive been working on is pretty rough so i didnt take too many yet... Im just getting it running so i can take it off road really.

The other MT im building up is a frame up rebuild, and im currently waiting for some parts to come from the USA as the swing arm bushes and collar were trashed, but sadly the guy who did the powdercoating of the frame/swinger (about 10 years back i think) didnt try and strip and rebuild those parts, i think he just ran a mile, so they were totally trashed and also solid... sigh. When those parts land I will start to build the frame up, should look great when its done as he had a lot of parts redone and then just left them in boxes etc.
